ABOUT FOSTIFY

One Mission. Fewer Dogs Left Behind.

Fostify is a free coordination platform for New Zealand's animal rescue charities — and a social enterprise built around a single belief: that this country can end dog overpopulation, and that the people already doing the work are the ones who'll get us there.

For a lot of organisations, coordination still happens across spreadsheets, Facebook threads and the memory of overstretched volunteers. It works, but it's a heavy way to carry something this important. Fostify aims to lighten that load: the shared place the sector's been missing — one home for everything, faster to update, safe by design, and built around how rescue really works, not how an outsider imagines it.
Voice-first logging so you can talk instead of type.
Shared records that outlast volunteer turnover.
And, over time, a clearer picture of the whole sector, so the problem can finally be seen well enough to solve.

FACES BEHIND FOSTIFY

Hi, I'm Ki and I grew up in Thailand, where stray dogs have been part of the landscape for as long as I can remember. A problem so constant it almost fades into the background.

After settling in New Zealand, I went back to volunteer with the Soi Dog Foundation, one of Asia's largest street-dog rescue charities, for a couple of weeks and visited a few rescue centres along the way. That's when the sheer complexity of it hit me. This isn't something good intentions alone can fix.

It wasn't until I adopted my own dog that I realised New Zealand has the same problem. It's just invisible. It kept off the streets by whole troops of volunteers working tirelessly behind the scenes. NZ rescue organisations care for around 60,000 companion animals every year (NZ Veterinary Journal, Roseveare & Gates, 2024), and the demand keeps outpacing the hands available to meet it.

I'm not a millionaire, and I don't have endless hours to give. What I do have is tech experiences and a deep belief that it should be used to build things that last and do real good. So that's my contribution: Fostify — the shared place the sector's been missing. Instead of scattered spreadsheets, message threads and notes, it brings everything into one place, built to give coordinators and volunteers back the time they'd rather spend on the dogs.

And this is my commitment: for the rescue charities doing this work, Fostify will always be free. They give everything to the animals in their care, the tools to make that easier shouldn't cost them a thing.
